Marion M. Wood (nee O'Brien), age 88, of Philadelphia passed away on October 13, 2020 surrounded by her family.
A lifelong resident of Philadelphia, Marion was a graduate of Little Flower HS class of 1950. She worked as an administrative assistant at SmithKline, Holy Redeemer and BAYADA. Marion loved spending time at Ocean City, NJ. In the Fall, she enjoyed birthday weekends with her siblings and in-laws. During the summer, vacations were spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to the boys of summer; her beloved Phillies. Marion was a dedicated spectator at many baseball, softball, soccer, and swimming events for all her grandchildren. Her love and commitment to family and friends was consummate. Her strength from life experiences gave definition to the unwavering love she provided. Marion was always willing to help family and friends and her compassion and love for others was guided by her faith. Marion was a dedicated mother who surrounded and embraced her daughters with love and devotion throughout their lives. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her, and we take solace in knowing she is at peace, surrounded by all those who went before her that have welcomed her home.
Wife of the late William J. Beloved mother of Mary (Robert) Hayes, Teresa (Kevin) Lehane and predeceased by her 2 infant children. Cherished grandmother of Ryan, (Alexa), Kerryn, Sean, Colleen, Kevin Michael, and Christopher. Devoted Great Grandmother to Grayson and Avery. Dear sister of Theresa (the late James) Gavaghan, Sr. Leonissa O'Brien SSJ, the late Edward (Connie), the late Frank (Anne), the late Don (Theresa), the late Ray (Charlotte), the late Gerry (Pat), the late Tom (Joan) and the late Alleen (Dave)Davenport. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral Tuesday Oct. 20, 2020 from 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM at Our Lady of Calvary Church, 11024 Knights Rd. Funeral Mass 11:00 AM.
